Berber: A Lamb's Tale
Published in Hardcover by Wateroak Publishing (December, 1999)
Author: Margaret Anderson Johnson
Average review score:

Entertaining, inspiring, highly recommended reading.
Berber is an orphaned lamb who thinks he is 'human" because his adoptive-mother is human and has white hair just like his wool coat. Berber: A Lamb's Tale is an utterly charming and original story told from Berber's point-of-view and details his many escapades with the other farm creatures. Margaret Johnson, drawing upon her many years of raising all manner of animals, has written an entertaining, inspiring, highly recommended story for young readers that is enhanced throughout with full-color illustrations.

Absolutely Precious
Berber is absolutely precious. This is a childs book that adults can enjoy. You will read it over and over to your children.

It's a hit!
I absolutely loved this book. It is a great story for children, but one that the adults will love to read to them. (and after they go to bed read it to themselves). Margaret clearly loves and understands animals, and has a lot to share about them. Especially enjoyable is how she tells the story from the lamb's view, and you know, I think she did know exactly what the lamb was thinking. It's a great story with a great message and I hope that many more people have a chance to read it. ADD IT TO YOUR SHOPPING CART!

Billy and Blaze
Published in Paperback by MacMillan Publishing Company. (August, 1971)
Author: Clarence W. Anderson
Average review score:

A wonderful, wonderful set of stories...
I read these books as a little kid... The illustrations are incredibly beautiful and lifelike, and the stories are equally enjoyable. Billy and Blaze's adventures would capture the heart and mind of any child -- or even adult! - with their emotional strength and superb literary quality. I can't recommend these books highly enough... every one of them.

A beautifully written and illustrated children's classic
All of the Billy & Blaze stories were among my favorites as a child; I'm so glad they are available again. The illustrations alone make these stories classic children's literature!

Great story of a child relating to an animal
I grew up reading the entire series of the Blaze books by C.W. Anderson and they have become favorites of my children. Billy loves his pony, and his pony loves him. There is a mutual respect that only love can inspire. Apart from the story, Anderson is a consumate illustrator.

Black Cloud: A Still Life
Published in Paperback by iUniverse.com (June, 2001)
Author: Mark Anderson
Average review score:

FIVE STARS- a winner!
This is a really great story; I had a tough time putting it down and wanted to read it again when I finished !

Mark Anderson has a gift; a writing style that feels so real- I could easily visualize his characters and surroundings. His descriptions and wording just flow and keep you thoroughly absorbed.

What is truly amazing, though, is his candor and bravery in telling of his life experience; this is a true story. We think that we are unique in the way our families function (or disfunction!) and that terrible things happen to us alone, which sets us apart from the rest of the world. But we are all connected; some of us more than others can truly relate. The knowledge that forgiveness is possible and a blessing- even in the face of unbelievable cruelty, is truly healing and inspiring.

A very fine and engrossing story- I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Good books are not always on the best seller lists.
As a psychotherapist and author, I have been telling clients and workshop participants for years about the power of writing. "Keeping a journal while in psychotherapy is an excellent way to deepen and accelerate your progress," I tell them. No doubt the author, Mark Anderson, benefited greatly from writing this engaging memoir (slightly disguised as a novel), but the magic of Black Cloud is in its therapeutic value for readers. Anderson's story is felt at multiple levels --- ranging from simple "good reading" to a poignant testimony that our families' "craziness" does not have to do us in. This book entertains while it instills hope. Black Cloud delivers what its back cover promises: simple lessons of love and the miracle of the human spirit.

An amazing and touching story.
I don't know how he got away with telling those touchy details about the abuse and incest in the main character's story (based on a true story?). Yet he does it with no blame or judgment. At some times this family seems very warm and normal, then the unexpected happens. When it was all over I felt very moved and hopeful for the human condition. I highly recommend it!

Bold as a Lamb

A Must-Read!
Whether or not you are a Christian, this book will touch your soul. Samuel Lamb spent over 20 years in Chinese prisons for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a Christian, it has challenged me in my walk with Christ.

Pastor Lamb and the Underground Church in China
I felt strongly enough about this book to go out of my way to write a review (!). I learned a lot about how the Chinese government deals with the Church. I would love to meet Pastor Lamb someday.

God's Awesomeness Demonstrated Through One Man's Life
In 1996, a friend loaned me their copy of Bold as a Lamb just one month prior to our trip to China. This book gave me a stronger understanding of the real presecution that takes place everyday in this fallen world that desperately needs Jesus Christ. This book recounts the story of one Christian man's life within the wallls of China. How he spent over 20 years of his life in prison because of his faith in Jesus Christ. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone Christian or not. Also, to those who teach High School or College students this would be an excellent book for classroom reading and discusion. While in China, I personally met Pastor Samual Lamb and worshiped with his home church.

Breakfast Epiphanies : Finding Wonder in the Everyday
Published in Hardcover by Beacon Press (October, 2002)
Author: David Anderson
Average review score:

Everyday Simplicity
A wonderful book! Father David Anderson (an Episcopal priest from Bucks County PA) has written a book that is spiritually uplifting. It is an enjoyable read for the religious and the non-religious alike. He has elements of Buddahism as well as the Benedictine and Franciscan spirituality of seeing the wonder of the spirit of God in the daily grind that we all live each day. Highly recommended!!

I'm Giving Them Away for Christmas!
The way I know if a movie is good is if I want to see it twice. The same goes for books. I've read Breakfast Epiphanies and I'm going through it again.

I read a lot in this genre of self-help and spirituality and I have to say, this book caught me by surprise. Partly it's because there's such a light touch to every story. Anderson is a pastor but he doesn't preach.

I loved the one titled, Hands off: We Hatch Alone. It's about his visit to a kindergarten class where they were hatching a box of chicks. All the children were instructed to keep their hands folded behind their backs. Anderson did too. And then he spins a gentle tale of how this simple posture of attentive detachment works in our relationships. "We cannot stop drinking for someone else...we cannot lift the pall of depression...If they are going to break into freedom, they will have to hatch themselves."

And so it goes, story after story. There's the one about the cat, Oliver, who has the instinct to hunt but when he actually gets outdoors, meekly returns to the warmth of the kitchen. I sat there thinking about all the times the door of opportunity slid open for me and I retreated. I have a name for this now. I used to call it fear. Now I call it Oliver.

Then there's the one about the woman who received last rites and came back to life for the love of meat loaf. And the one about American men (and husbands) and how the best path to spiritual growth and vital relationship with our spouse might just be dancing lessons.

Finally, I guess why I like this book is that Anderson is such a likeable guy. The book is solid gold but it has the warmth of a real person living a real life. He's smart and witty but he's also just a lot of fun, the kind of neighbor you'd be eager to see and talk to over the fence.

I loved this book. I'm giving them away for Christmas!

A great way to start the day - or finish it!
David Anderson manages to find the transcendent in everyday pursuits and happenings. You don't have to be an Episcopal clergyman (as he is), or have any religious belief at all, to identify, learn, and be touched by the wisdom in these brief, warm, funny, and enlightening encounters with the nitty-gritty of our lives. No story takes more than 5 minutes to read, so it's easy to pick up and put down again with little guilt - but with great reward.

The Butterfly Factor
Published in Hardcover by Rock Hill Publishing (09 April, 2003)
Author: Carol Grace Anderson
Average review score:

What a book!
Oh, what a book! I loved the artwork and the story. I wish I was a better "butterfly". I am a bit on the grumpy, sleepy, doesn't like to change side! This book shows that there is hope for even me! And the CD that comes with it is a fantastic bonus. The song "Don't Bug Me" was taken right out of my head I do believe.
I loved the way it seemed to celebrate and laugh at/with my reluctance to change. As with all of Carol Anderson's books, this one made me feel accepted.

Butterly Factor Books and Songs
A friend gave me this lovely little book for Easter. It was so easy to read.
The characters are fun and creative. I couldn't believe the music. I was surprised it is not available yet anywhere else!

I was able to get it off the presses
This is a great concept. A treat for the eyes and ears! I loved the story, and the music is great.

Wit and Wisdom. Grizzard at his best!
Ahh...who couldn't like Grizzard? Except if you're a Yankee ;P Wish he was still around to write more. It's the only book of his I read (and won't be the last, I assure you) and I already miss him.

Wit, Wisdom and down home Southern humor
Never get tired of this book. Funny, enlightening and very eye opening at times...

Read it its GREAT
I read this book almost a million times and I always find something different to laugh at. It should become a classic someday in the world of comedy books.

Comanche Moon
Published in Paperback by Harper Mass Market Paperbacks (September, 1993)
Author: Catherine Anderson

Comanche Moon by Catherine Anderson
Comanche Moon, was the first book I started reading, and because of this book, this woman, I am now an avid reader of historical romances. Catherine didn't have a problem making the scenes and creators as true to life as possible. You are made to feel like you are right there as the events are unfolding. I now want to read all of her books, and have gone on to read other historical romance authors' work. Thank you Mrs. Anderson.

This is one book that deserves extra-credit!
This book is WONDERFUL anyone who reads it will definitly fall inlove with each and every character. It has a tale of strength, heartache, courage, and love. What I would love to know is, "When will C.A. write a book about her Character Amy, who plays the heroines sister?".

For lover's of American Indian tales....this is a "keeper"
The fierce Commanche warrior Hunter Wolf is chosen by his people to cross the western wilderness in search of the elusive maiden who would fulfill thier sacred prophecy. He finds and captures Loretta Simpson, a proud golden-haired beauty who swears to defy her captor. What she doesn't realize is that she and Hunter are bound by destiny. Realizing that Hunter's tribe was responsible for killing her mother, she runs away. She can never stay with those that killed her family. Hunter goes after her.

Computational Fluid Dynamics
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math (01 February, 1995)
Author: John D., Jr. Anderson
Average review score:

A Superb Introduction to CFD
Best book on CFD written by an engineer for engineers. Having suffered a lot with numerous books written by mathematicians (obviously due to the complex mathematical notation they use), this book was clear, easy to understand and extremely student friendly. Starting with the Navier-Stokes eqns and their various forms, the author presents a sound mathematical background followed by basic numerical techniques for solving CFD problems. He sticks to the original motivation of writing a book on "introduction to CFD" and does not burden the reader with complex techniques or routines. However, he still reserves a chapter for the advanced modern techniques and gives latest approaches for tackling real-flow problems.

Although the book is heavily loaded with examples from aeronautics, I believe it is still a good read for engineers from other braches of engineering including civil and environmental engineering.

Excellent cross-referencing makes this item an easy read. Definitely recommended for all engineers who want to expand into the area of computational fluids.

Readable
Most useful CFD text book I've ever read!

A must read for anyone with an interest in CFD.
Having suffered through several cryptic books on fluid dynamics, I found this one quite refreshing, and student friendly. The author spends a great deal of time developing and giving the reader an appreciation for the complete Navier-Stokes equations. Then he carefully explains the mathematical behavior of various flows, giving the reader an understanding of well posedness for different flow regimes. The section on discretization and solution techniques focuses on the right and wrong way to obtain stable solutions. Finally, the applications provide complete step by step guidance that is very helpful to the novice in this field. In the preface the author speaks of the "joys of CFD", and by the final chapter, the reader can indeed share this view. I wish this book had been around 22 years ago when I was in college - it's suitable for students and professionals.

Customer Relationship Management
Published in Digital by McGraw-Hill ()
Authors: Kristin Anderson, Roger A. Formisano, and Carol Kerr
Average review score:

Getting Past the Technology
Perhaps the best recommendation I can give for this book occurs in one of the many little tip boxes scattered throughout this treasure trove of ideas, tips and tricks of the trade. This particular tip box says simply "Strategy Isn't Technology ...people confuse strategy and technology ... Insist that CRM technologies be referred to as CRM tools. Ask how each tool supports your CRM strategy."

This book provides the best antidote to that tendency we have today to mistake a software application for a full solution. Not only will this book show you how to get the most out of such CRM tools, but it also provides tips and ideas for managing the whole complex and essential business of Customer Realtionship Management.

Practical CRM
I've looked through a number of books on CRM in an effort to get a better handle on the topic and to find a good process for teaching the concepts to emploees in my company. I stumbled over Anderson & Kerr's take on CRM and found what I was looking for. Anderson and Kerr have captured the essence of CRM in a very practical, hands-on way. They have great examples from their lives and (I assume) the lives of their friends that adds texture and a realness that the other books I've looked at lacked. I really thought I understood CRM, but after reading this book I realized that I had missed the whole point -- Customer Relationship Management is about CUSTOMERS, not computers. Well worth the reading if you have anything to do with customers.

Packed with Knowledge!
Despite the tens of millions dollars now being invested in new customer relationship management solutions, customer satisfaction with service dropped almost eight percent from 1994 to 2000, according a study by the University of Michigan's business school. Consultants Anderson and Kerr suggest some reasons why: a failure to distinguish between CRM strategy and CRM technology and a tendency to view meaningless data as useful information. We from getAbstract highly recommend this concise and thorough examination of CRM to all managers and students of business.
